Key provisions · Claude summary, not statute text

Employee community housing may be exempted from the labor camp permit requirement.

  • Permit or exemption. Employee community housing needs a permit to operate as a labor camp unless the enforcement agency grants an exemption. (a)
  • Tenant notice. The requester must give each employee/tenant written notice with the agency’s address and phone number and their right to report violations. (a)
  • Grounds for denial. An exemption is granted unless there are material health and safety violations, violations within two years, or the housing does not meet § 17005.5. (b)
  • One community only. An exemption for one community does not cover the same owner’s housing in other communities. (c)
  • Ongoing obligations. Exempt housing stays subject to the State Housing Law, and tenant notices must be repeated at least every 10 years. (d)
  • Rescission. The exemption must be rescinded if the housing is not operated or maintained in substantial compliance with § 17005.5. (e)
