Key provisions · Claude summary, not statute text

Sets out what counts as employee housing under the Act and what does not.

  • Workplace housing. Accommodations for five or more employees maintained in connection with work or a workplace are employee housing, whether or not rent is involved. (a)
  • Rural agricultural housing. Rural housing not tied to a workplace, provided by someone other than an agricultural employer, and used by five or more agricultural employees for specified residency is also employee housing. (b)(1)
  • Exclusions under (b). Hotels, motels, multifamily dwellings and single-family houses meeting all of the listed conditions, and certain housing not maintained as employee housing around January 1, 1984, are excluded. (b)(2), (b)(3)
  • Public and exempt housing. Exempt employee community housing, publicly owned housing, and housing financed with public funds equal to 50 percent or more of its cost are not employee housing. (d)
  • Residential use. Employee housing means the same as “labor camp” and is deemed a residential use in single-family or apartment houses, notwithstanding any contrary local ordinance. (e)
