  • Shared housing unit. Specified that, for a residential care facility, a "shared housing unit" includes a unit without an individual kitchen where a room may be shared by unrelated persons and that meets minimum room area requirements, as specified.
  • Charter cities. Declared the changes a matter of statewide concern applying to all cities, including charter cities.
  • Coordination with AB 3116. Incorporated additional changes to Government Code Section 65915 proposed by AB 3116, operative only if both were enacted and this bill was enacted last.

The Legislature finds and declares that Section 1 of this act amending Section 65915 of the Government Code addresses a matter of statewide concern rather than a municipal affair as that term is used in Section 5 of Article XI of the California Constitution. SEC. 4

No reimbursement is required by this act pursuant to Section 6 of Article XIII B of the California Constitution because a local agency or school district has the authority to levy service charges, fees, or assessments sufficient to pay for the program or level of service mandated by this act, within the meaning of Section 17556 of the Government Code.
